I Got Dreadlocks
And it didn't hurt my career

Hey guys,
Jamie here.
Ooooooh, itās been awhile since I wrote a decent newsletter. Iām not sure if you noticed, but I sure have.
For years Iāve pounded out one newsletter a week. I was a machine. But then I got a weird full-time contract position that took all my time and broke my streak.
I donāt know about you, but Iām driven by streaks. I love a good streak. I have a journaling streak (1,012 days). An AppleMove Ring streak (1,097 days). Eating dark chocolate every day (no official count here, but Iām very consistent!).
Once I broke my newsletter streak my energy plummeted.
I wanted to keep writing to you all, but I didnāt know what direction to write.
So I stopped.
Yikes! Iām fixing that today.
Iāve got to be fully honest with you that I donāt know where this newsletter is going to go. In the past Iāve loved writing about the power of PharmDs, digital creation, and entrepreneurship. I canāt say what I plan to write about in the future.
To me, writing and connecting with you guys is a sacred relationship. Youāve put your trust in me. Youāre spending your precious time reading these words from an already overfull inbox. I want to honor that and make your day just a smidge better each time you read my words. Thanks for hanging with me all these years! Iām so glad to know many of you.
Iām at a bit of a crossroads in my career. I donāt know where Iām going from here.
ā¢ More prn work in my local pharmacies?
ā¢ Bold new entrepreneurial campaign?
ā¢ Leaning into paid sponsorships Iāve been experimenting with recently?
ā¢ Launch something outside of pharmacy completely
ā¢ Or just not working and hanging out with my super cool boys?
Humans have a default setting has been to hide behind-the-scenes until I āfigure it out". I know that is the case, but still have been caught by that snare. I know we figure things out by doing them, not thinking about doing them.
Iām serious about building something I love that really helps a corner of the world. So, Iāve got to get back on the publishing horse. Iād encourage you to do the same. I mean, arenāt we all in a never-ending process of figuring out what in the heck weāre doing with our lives?
Iāll keep these newsletters and LinkedIn posts coming. If you donāt like this kind of thing, please unsubscribe now (bottom of this email). šš»
And now, if youāre getting to the end wondering when Iām talking about my dreadlocks: well, youāve arrived.
I got dreadlocks this summer.
Iāve wanted them for months.
You guys, I love them with all my heart.
-they have been so fun to wear
-I donāt have to do my hair each day
-I did what I wanted to do
And they were well received.
I could still be a professional and have my own unique look.
Didnāt hurt my career at all (I think it actually enhanced it)
Anyway, thanks for reading this long. I look forward to sharing (at least for a time) a more chill Jamie who doesnāt have an agenda. Just writing to express myself with the goal of ultimately helping you out.
Hope you have the best day out there!
Jamie
*For those of you wondering the logistics of how dreadlock extensions work just hit reply. Happy to share. They arenāt at all permanent and really fun.
